Back Strengthening: Lateral bends
Here’s a great way to strengthen the postural muscles in your back. Lateral bends also aid in the prevention of back injuries and promote flexibility in your spine. This exercise is very simple and just requires a dumbbell!
How-To Steps:
- Stand tall with a straight spine, shoulders slightly up and back. Grab a dumbbell you are comfortable with and hold it with the arm on the same side you will be bending. Place your other hand on your hip.
- Start to slowly bend your torso sideways in your intended direction, make sure to maintain good posture.
- Bend as far as you feel comfortable, aim to complete 10 lateral bends on each side.
