Injured in a car accident? Work with a Kinesiologist – Initial Treatments Fully Covered by ICBC

Kinesiology Can Help
If you have been in a motor vehicle accident (MVA), you are pre-approved for 12 kinesiology sessions – at no cost to you. If additional sessions are needed, your Kinesiologist will liaise with ICBC for further approval so you are sure to receive all the treatment you need to feel your best again.

HOW can working with a Kinesiologist help you post-MVA?
Kinesiologists are your human movement specialists. They apply the latest evidence-based techniques to help make you stronger, move better, increase your mobility, and recover from injury.
Have you ever felt lost in the gym? Unsure if you are doing your rehab exercises at home correctly? Working with a Kinesiologist will put you at ease and have you feeling confident that you are doing the most beneficial exercises for your unique body. Most importantly – that you are performing them correctly.

What does a Kinesiology session look like
Your Kinesiologist at West End Physiotherapy will start by assessing your strength, range of motion, and movement patterns. From there, you will set achievable goals together, and she will design an exercise program tailored just for you to get you moving and feeling better than you did pre-injury! Your Kinesiologist will also provide education on how to prevent future injuries.
After your initial assessment, your Kinesiologist will give you a full plan to recovery and recommend either a 30 or 45-minute session at a frequency of once or twice weekly, depending on your needs. When you come in for your subsequent sessions, you will be guided through each exercise and stretch for the duration of the session. This means you get to complete your whole exercise program under professional supervision. For an example of some of the exercises used take a look by clicking here… Your Kinesiologist may also recommend taping you, performing manual muscle releases, or manually stretching you. You may see some improvements and relief after just one or two sessions. However, the number of sessions you’ll need will depend on the severity of your injury.
A home exercise program will be provided to you so that you can confidently speed up your rehab on your own, in addition to your weekly sessions. As you progress, your Kinesiologist will continue adapting your exercise program to ensure you are continually getting closer to reaching your goals.
